Waiting Passionately?

Our whole lives we’ve been told to wait patiently. When we wanted our parents’ attention and they were otherwise engaged, we heard: “Wait just a minute. Be patient.” That phrase has followed us from childhood, through adolescence, to adulthood…and probably will to the grave.

I’m here to challenge those words. Psalm 37:34 challenges those words: “Wait passionately for God, don’t leave the path…” (The Message)

Life is full of waiting, and that can’t be helped. What can be helped is our reaction to, and our action during, the waiting period. Instead of sitting silently, waiting for the next chapter, be proactive. Be passionate! “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17, NIV)

Do you feel stuck in life, waiting for the next big thing? Wait passionately. Don’t sit there and pine for what’s to come, throw yourself into living life! Be involved. Be present. Be thankful. Make an impact! We can’t fast-forward to get where we hope to be, and thank God for that! Use each day you’re given and squeeze out every possible experience. Don’t squander life and wish the time away.

Each season of our lives comes and goes in the blink of an eye, so live passionately. In the inevitable waiting, wait passionately. Don’t let life happen to you, get out there and make your mark.
